Exploring the Photographic Side of Album Covers
Join us for a relaxed and engaging one-hour session each month as we dive into the photographic artistry behind some of the most iconic (and obscure) album covers.
This season, we’ll explore:
- 📸 What makes a great album cover photograph?
We’ll look at composition, mood, technique, and how the image serves both as art and as a piece of music marketing. - 🧩 What does the cover convey?
Does it align with the artist’s image and the music inside? What story does it tell? - 🕰️ Has it aged well?
We’ll reflect on how the perception of these images has changed over time. - 🎬 Behind the scenes:
We’ll uncover the stories behind the cover shoots — including outtakes and alternate versions when available.
Each session will also include discussion of the music itself, keeping the connection between sound and image at the forefront.
Bonus Session:
As part of the season, we’ll host a live photo session with a local musician, offering a hands-on look at what goes into creating a modern album cover.
Open to all – just sign up to the SIG. Bring your eye, your ears, and your curiosity.
