Portraits

Defined as images of the face, partial body, or full body. Images that do not exhibit an identifiable face or partial face are not allowed in Portraits but can be submitted in Photo General.

  • This category is limited to live human portraiture.
  • Images can be in a controlled studio setting or in a natural environment.
  • Images are strengthened if they emphasize the character of the person, personality, mood, or story of the subject and show that the subject is a participant in the photographic process.
  • Post-processing adjustments and alterations are allowed.
  • Nudes or partially clothed people are allowed but must be in good taste.
  • Images that are considered pornographic or images that are illegal will be disqualified (DQ’d) by the Competition Committee.
  • Altered Reality is not allowed in Portraiture.
  • Images containing wildlife of any kind are not allowed.
