This is a FREE Event!

Ever wanted to shoot the Milky Way but didn’t know where to start or where to look in the night sky?  Then join us for a learning session.
As we draw near to the end of Milky Way Season for 2025, now is a good time to step out and let your camera capture the stars!  Milky Way will be rising and visible to the camera by 9 pm allowing us an hour of time to shoot the stars and before head back home with stars in our eyes.
As we need clear night skies and away from the light pollution created by city lights, we will select a meeting site that is best for the majority of those who have signed up.
The date for this outing will be between Sept 18 through Sept 24th.
Best viewing time would be between 9:30pm to 1:30am. Plan on allowing travel and setup time prior to shooting.
Moon phase will be in the last quarter, so better visibility. Hopefully one of these nights will provide us with clear skies!
This is weather dependent and also on lack of cloud cover. Registered members will be notified by Marion which night would be optimal for the outing.

Requirements:

  • You must be able to shoot in manual mode.  Automatic mode does not work.
  • Wide angle lens between 14 through 28 mm.
  • An aperture 2.8 or lower ie 1.8 f, 1.4 f.
  • Lens warmer.  As the nights get cooler, the lenses may fog up.
